I soon realized what was going on all attempts to contact them were fruitless. I decided to send a computer sent fax to their free call 1800 number demanding a response. "Unfortunately" I sent it to the free call 1800 phone number instead and each time they answered it would attempt to send, when they hung up the fax would attempt again, and again and again, I tied up their phone line for three days. "Opps" sorry POLICE DOWN UNDER or who ever you are for tying up your phone number and costing you the time money and inconvenience. Now I have been contacted by EMERGENCY MEADIA in MELBOURNE same scam this time for the AIPOL magazine they have a 1300 number (1300855444) the director is ALDO CONTBARDO I tried to get through to ALDO to try and sell him some advertising space in my fictitious magazine called “HOW TO SCAMM SMALL BUSINESS OPERATORS MAGAZINE” He didn’t want to have anything to do with it…..funny that. I was interviewed by my local paper last week and right in the middle of the interview with reporter & photographer present another call came through! What unbelievable timing!! When they ring they have a script which is designed to get you to say 'yes' or 'no' answers. Do NOT say yes or no, ask "who's calling please?" They will continue and try to get you to say yes answers. They will claim to have had a conversation with you many months ago about an ad you approved. Keep calm but KEEP ASKING THEM QUESTIONS, this buggers up their illegal recording of the conversation. They later manipulate and edit the recorded conversation to use against you down the track when they intimidate people for payment. Tell them you are busy with a customer and ask for a return contact number. They will hang up suddnely. They never inform you they are recording the conversations, which is against the Recording Devices Act. If they threaten debt collectors...let them! Debt collectors must correctly identify themselves and the company they work for, so do an internet check whilst they are on the premises - they can't object to this as you are entitled to protect your business investment. If they are a legitimate company inform them you are victim of a fraudulent scam. They will then inform their employer - it's happened before. We paid for the first one then became suspicious that these were all coming from a very similar area. We threatened them with ACC etc and they asked for all of the publications they had sent us to be returned. Someone stating she was doing a research project asked for them...we did not return them. Upon asking for a copy of the "phone call" made 4 months earlier they were not able to provide it due to some lack of computer program on my computer. We did not pay and the threat of investigation seemed to put them off. BUT today we received another "Solicitation, not an invoice for a debt incurred by you" by fax for SIREN, A review of National Emergency Services. Once again a phone call preceded it stating that my husband had agreed to advertise during a phone call in May! He has no recollection of this call as having been burnt once he refuses all telephone solicitations. This one is from Workforce Publications PO Box 164 Bond University Queensland. PLEASE BE AWARE this one seems to go along with the others.
